Tanner Clinic: Tanner Clinic is a physician-owned multi-specialty clinic of 135 physicians and more than 100 Advanced Practice providers and other clinicians. Tanner Clinic was founded in 1905 and has continuously provided healthcare services in northern Utah.

Position Summary: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) works with the board of directors and executive level leadership in implementing and maintaining the overall vision, strategic plan, and operational/financial performance of Tanner Clinic.



Essential Job Responsibilities:


Leadership & Strategy:

  • Collaborate with Tanner Clinic leadership to help implement short- and long-term strategic plans.
  • Provide leadership to maintain and grow the clinic's reputation for quality patient care.
  • Maintain and cultivate Tanner Clinic’s mission-driven culture.

Operations Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day clinical and administrative operations.
  • Collaborate with COO, CMO, and CFO to implement efficient workflows, systems, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

Financial Oversight:

  • Work closely with the CFO and COO to help oversee Tanner Clinic’s financial sustainability.
  • Monitor revenue cycles, cost structures, and identify opportunities for financial optimization.
  • Report regularly on financial and operational performance to the Board.

Human Resources & Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing leadership team.
  • Foster employee engagement and a positive work environment.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build relationships with community partners, healthcare networks, and insurance companies.
  • Ensure patient needs and community health trends are reflected in clinic services.




Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (required).
  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or a related field (preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting including executive level healthcare experience (preferred).

Other Requirements:

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job


Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of healthcare regulations, value-based healthcare, medical billing, and compliance (HIPAA, Stark, Anti-Kickback, Medicare, Federal and CMS Regulations, etc.), and quality improvement.
  • Specific knowledge of finance, marketing, human resource management, and public relations in health care.

Skills:

  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, ethical judgment and integrity, discretion, and decision-making to achieve clinic's mission.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, policy-making bodies, third-party payers, patients, and the public.
  • Skill in organizing work, delegating, and achieving goals and objectives.

Abilities:

  • Ability to identify trends and motivate workforce toward changes needed to adopt and remain competitive.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and change.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with staff, government officials, and the public. 
  • Ability to guide management in its responsibilities while maintaining commitment to effective team functioning.


Equipment Operated:

  • Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.


Work Environment:

  • Position is in a well-lit office environment. 
  • May involve occasional early morning, evening and weekend commitments.
  • Fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment.


Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
