Sup, Labor

Primary Function: The essential function is to supervise crop labor and ensure that crop work tasks are performed
to meet minimum standard and minimum quality requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Train all new laborers weekly using an established training program.
• Complete an evaluation of new laborers to ensure that targets are being met.
• Ensure that assigned tasks are done correctly and performed at a rate meeting minimum
standards and quality.
• Be able to clearly convey instructions and expectations of standards and quality to
Laborers.
• Ensure that work progress is reported into Work It.
• Make Work It swipe entries for start of work, registration of all activities, and end of work
(Ensure timely start, stop, and break times).
• Manage resources used by labor.
• Complete regular evaluations for GH laborers based on quality and performance with
the Greenhouse Manager.
• Ensure equipment issues are reported by workers and conveyed to Maintenance and
Greenhouse Manager.
• Make sure that all sanitation procedures are followed, and that the greenhouse is up to
the proper standard.
• Make sure that all laborers adhere to all company policies.
• Issue corrective action/write ups as needed and provide coaching as necessary.
• Promote a positive work environment to achieve excellent efficiency and quality.
• Communicate progress and concerns to the Greenhouse Manager and greenhouse
team.
• Evaluate labor needs with the Greenhouse Manager.
• Responsible for doing a weekly Grower walk through.

Education/Background Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Supervisory experience required, preferably in a greenhouse environment.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with a positive and open-minded.
• Ability to work with and learn computer programs like Microsoft Office Suite and Work It
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Ability to follow and clearly convey instructions in English and potentially work with
laborers who do not speak English as their primary language.
• Ability to lift, bend, twist and carry up to 30 lbs.
• Stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.

Working Conditions:
• Combination of office (20%) and Greenhouse (80%) environment.
• Work in variable climate conditions, high temperatures and humidity.
• Position requires sitting, standing, walking and bending on a regular basis.
• Must have manual dexterity to perform computer skills.
