First Public is a registered broker-dealer with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) and is licensed with the Texas Department of Insurance.

About You
As a Relationship Manager, you will bring expertise in relationship building and public funds investment knowledge. In addition, you’ll be highly valued for your ability to present yourself as a thought leader at industry events, your hard-working attitude, and your willingness to travel throughout the state of Texas to successfully execute a territory sales strategy.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Sales and Revenue Growth
- Collaborate with the Director of Investment & Public Finance Services to execute a comprehensive sales strategy that results in an increase of First Public’s local government investment services market share and maximizes revenue growth.
- Meet ambitious sales targets and performance metrics that align with First Public’s Strategic Plan.
- Secure new participants and expand existing relationships with school districts, cities, counties, colleges, special purpose districts, and other governmental entities.
- Build and maintain high-value client relationships throughout the State of Texas
Client and Industry Engagement
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, board meetings, and regional events to elevate brand positioning and thought leadership.
- Travel extensively to meet with prospects and current participants in-person, attend industry conferences, and strengthen regional partnerships to drive business growth and client engagement.
- Provide outstanding customer support and serve as a first-line point of contact for participants in assigned regions.
- Stay informed of economic trends, government financial policies and legislation, and changes in investment strategies that may impact First Public’s business.
Skills For Success
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 3+ years of experience in investment sales, public entity investment management, or equivalent
- Proven sales skills and/or client relationship management experience
- Ability to formulate and execute territory sales plans
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- Knowledge of financial markets, public funds investing, insurance, and employee benefits products
- Computer skills—Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Education and Experience:
- College degree or equivalent
- FINRA series 6 or 7 and 63 licenses (or ability to obtain these licenses within 90 days)
- Texas Department of Insurance general lines agent license (or ability to obtain this license within 90 days)
