Description

Day One Agency—Fast Company’s #1 on the Most Innovative list —is hiring!
We’re looking for a Director, Story to join our rising Creative team. The successful candidate is ambitious, curious, and creative. A storyteller at your core, you thrive on audience connection across mediums. You’re a cultural translator—fluent in headlines, hooks, and hype—and you know how to make people feel something, scroll back, or click play. You’re bold with your ideas, trust your instincts, and are energized by the unknown.
We’re looking for self-starters with creative agency experience who are excited to collaborate with our squad within a rewarding learning environment. Day One prides itself on being a place to grow and further your career. You’ll be joining a team fueled by curiosity, empathy, and energy—the kind that believes feedback is a growth tool, culture is a creative accelerant, and great ideas deserve momentum.
Our company culture is at the core of everything we do. It’s what makes every day, Day One. We offer a highly collaborative environment where smart, passionate people come together to solve creative challenges. We work hard on the things we love. It’s how we produced e.l.f. SKIN’s first-ever global brand campaign based on cultural insights that our team unlocked and how we honed in on the legacy of both Nike and Converse to contextualize each brand’s heritage with creative that resonates with the next generation.
Our relationships power us. Our colleagues, clients, and partners are the most important part of our business. If you want to join a fast-growing, award-winning, creative team, we’d love to hear from you.
This position is full-time, requires a hybrid work schedule, and is only available in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

This is a role for a versatile, concept-forward creative who thinks beyond the caption and leads by doing. You’re in a deck, a brainstorm, or on set—thriving where strategy, storytelling, and execution meet. You work best in fast-paced environments and believe great ideas can come from anywhere..You’re joining a team that loves to move at the speed of culture, powered by the belief that every day is Day One—a chance to bring fresh thinking to the table and tell stories that matter.
  • Craft culture-forward creative (with strategic chops) that drives earned attention, especially on social. From trends to IRL activations, you know how to tap into what people care about.
  • Lead brainstorms and develop ideas that feel both strategic and spontaneous, translating client goals into culture-first moments.
  • Write across mediums—taglines, scripts, manifestos, pitch decks, content calendars, etc.—with a voice that adapts to the audience and always hits.
  • Mentor junior creatives, helping them level up their ideas and their confidence.
  • Bring the energy and the empathy. You're an idea cheerleader, not a bottleneck—and you’re always thinking a step ahead.
  • Stay curious. Whether it’s a new platform, meme, or creator trend—you see everything as an opportunity to make the work better.
  • Inspire clients through compelling presentations and storytelling that turns maybes into hell yeses.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in creative roles with an emphasis on copywriting, storytelling, and campaign concepting
  • Portfolio showcasing earned-first work, strong writing, and bold ideas that made impact
  • Experienced in crafting campaigns for social platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Collaborative and proactive, with forward focused energy—you give great feedback, and you’re always hungry to grow
  • Strong client presence, with an ability to lead conversations and sell through big ideas
  • Comfortable juggling multiple projects and working across teams and disciplines
  • Deep understanding of pop culture, the internet, visual trends, and what’s being talked about online

  • Collaborative partner with a great work ethic
  • Excellent problem solving skills
