Job Description

The Surgical Technician (Scrub Tech) plays a crucial role in supporting surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment, and assisting the surgical team throughout the procedure. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, teamwork abilities, and a commitment to providing excellent patient care.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the operating room by assembling surgical instruments, equipment, and necessary supplies. 
  • Assist in the positioning of patients and ensuring their safety during surgical procedures. 
  • Maintain a sterile field and ensure compliance with established infection control standards. 
  • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical team during operations. 
  • Monitor the patient’s condition and alert the surgical team to any changes during procedures. 
  • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols. 
  • Assist with post-operative care, including transferring patients to recovery areas and ensuring a smooth transition. 
  • Document surgical procedures and maintain accurate records of all supplies used. 
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. 
  • Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events. 
  • Performance of other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • The CST certification offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).  
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years recent experience as a Surgical Technician including at least six months out of the past year. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).  
  • Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred. 

Education Required: 

  • Graduate from an accredited surgical technician program or have the military equivalent training course with Certificate of Completion (i.e. 68D, HM8483, 4N1x1). 
  • Medical Tech or related field. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements  
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.    
  • Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.  
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically a MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.  
  • Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project. 
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.

Compensation|  Min: $26hr        Max: $51hr
