JSI Telecom is looking for a full-time Software Integration and Soak Tester for the Core Engineering group. Reporting to a QA Manager, you will be responsible for validating software components, integrating new features, designing multifaceted tests, and conducting extensive testing to ensure the product's reliability and supportability. Collaboration with the test team and developers is crucial for prioritizing tests, providing feedback, diagnosing issues, and managing defects. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and possesses strong problem-solving and communication skills. A deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, proficiency in Windows and Linux, and a passion for both perfection and problem-solving are essential. This role is suited for someone who thrives on learning and applying new technologies to enhance product quality.
Responsibilities
At JSI, your responsibilities may include:
- Proving that software components come together to form a product
- Assess new features for how well they integrate with other components
- Design tests that span multiple features and components
- Defining key performance metrics to capture and compare against each release
- Assess the performance and scalability of the product to identify bottle necks
- Monitoring and managing a test system
- Executing long running tests on pre-release and post-release software to prove
- Absence of edge condition failures
- Absence of memory leaks
- Supportability of the product
- Performance of the product
- Work with other members of the test team to
- Prioritize areas for the soak test
- Give feedback on feature testing shortfalls
- Diagnose failures
- Executing defined test plans against a given release
- Executing automated test suites and interpreting results
- Contributing to improvements in test tooling, including automation and scripting
- Identify defects and manage those defects through the bug tracking system
- Partner with development team members to reproduce scenarios and identify root cause
- Participate in regularly scheduled bug hunts and regression testing
Traits
- Strong technical skills in Windows and Linux
- Inventive and likes to experiment
- Experience with programming or scripting languages
- Experience with a variety of test techniques and practices, particularly for monitoring performance and load
- Has working knowledge of at least some of the following:
- VMWare
- Kubernetes
- Helm
- Jenkins
- Has some experience writing automated tests (beyond record/playback)
- Has some knowledge of the telecommunications industry, networking, data analytics and Artificial Intelligence
- Loves testing and is really good at it - testing is your Plan A career, not Plan B
- Has a strong understanding of software development, testing and testing tools
- Has a technical mindset, for example:

Requirements
- Live in the Ottawa area and be available to work in office at least 2 days per week
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Eligible for top secret security clearance:
- No criminal activity
- No criminal record
- Ten years of verifiable history
- University or College graduate or equivalent experience
- Experience in Software Quality Assurance or related field
How We Work
You will be expected to work in a remote/hybrid environment reporting to our Kanata, Ontario location 2 or more times per week.
