The Community Mobilizer will support CORE’s Home Roofing Replacement and Hazard Mitigation Program by engaging disaster affected communities, identifying program beneficiaries, coordinating volunteer support, and collecting data for ongoing monitoring and evaluation. This role is essential to ensuring the program remains community-driven, responsive, and aligned with local needs in Valdosta, Dasher, and Lake Park.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach to identify and engage households in need of roof repairs and hazard mitigation services
  • Serve as the point of contact for residents throughout the assessment and repair process
  • Build trust with vulnerable populations including low-income, Black, and Hispanic communities
  • Assist with damage assessments of identified homes
  • Collect and input data into CORE’s MEL systems (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, SharePoint)
  • Administer surveys including Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) to measure satisfaction and impact
  • Recruit, organize, and support volunteers involved in the project
  • Coordinate with local partners and organizations to avoid service duplication
  • Support monthly reviews of progress indicators
  • Report community feedback and emerging needs to program leadership
  • Ensure all data collection is accurate, timely, and culturally sensitive
  • Other duties as assigned 

Scope and Travel:

  • Direct Reports: None
  • Travel: Primarily within Lowndes County, GA potential additional travel to nearby communities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, human services or related.
  • Or 3 years of relevant experience in disaster recovery or community outreach.

Experience:

  • Experience engaging with underserved or vulnerable communities
  • Strong community outreach and relationship-building skills
  • Background in disaster response or recovery programs (preferred)
  • Experience coordinating and supporting volunteers
  • Skilled in collecting data through surveys, interviews, or digital tools
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and support program monitoring
  • Comfortable working closely with a team and across departments
  • Familiarity with Valdosta, Dasher, and Lake Park communities (preferred)
  • Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience working in disaster recovery Projects, particularly roofing or home repairs.
  • Familiarity with community-based organizations and a strong understanding of the recovery challenges faced by marginalized communities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, for data tracking and reporting.
