VSC Fire & Security in Richmond, Virginia is seeking candidates for the position of Special Hazards – Low Voltage Technician.

 What you need:

  • One (1) year of experience in the installation, service, and troubleshooting of the detection components and the agent distribution pipe network for special hazards systems such as clean agents, engineered fire suppression, foam, dry chemical or other.
  • Experience with NFPA 2001, NFPA 12, FSSA Pipe design Guide, and NEC 70.
  • Experience with Fike, Kidde Fenwal, Novec 1230, Inergen, and/or Ansul systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Proficient in following instructions in equipment manuals, comprehending, and composing these manuals into simple instructions.
  • Demonstrate capability in following written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting electrical plans, drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Ability to pass various background checks when required.
  • Reliable transportation, valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record for use of company vehicle.
  • May require participation in on-call rotation.
  • Desirable (but not required!):
    • Experience and/or training in one or more specialized special hazard system(s).
    • NICET I Certification.
    • NAFED and/or FSSA certification.

 What you will do:

  • Perform activities concerned with the installation and service of special hazards systems.  This includes but is not limited to installation and testing of head end equipment, detection field devices, up to 4-inch schedule 80 A53 piping and distribution nozzles.
  • Complete wiring terminations and programming of releasing panels.
  • Perform door fan room integrity testing.
  • Maintain proper Risk Management and Safety procedures on all job sites per VSC.
  • Participate in the service and inspection process to oversee project repair, testing, and completion.
  • Manage delays, emergencies, damage and/or accidents at job sites to ensure proper procedures are carried out.
