This position is a member of our Air Quality Division.
Here’S What You’Ll Be Doing
- Lead and oversee an air modeling team workgroup; coordinate ongoing projects, design of procedures, and internal management directives with work group members. Lead specific SIP revisions as assigned.
- Communicate technical modeling information to TCEQ management, stakeholder groups, elected officials, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Oversee photochemical modeling activities related to air quality planning, including protocol development; task scheduling; compilation and review of required input data; post-processing and analysis of modeling results; coordination of activities with other groups; development and review of supporting documentation.
- Participate in planning of future activities, including evaluation of new modeling techniques and design of future modeling programs. Prepare and conduct quality assurance on supporting meteorological and/or emissions files for photochemical and other regulatory modeling input in support of SIP development.
- Analyze data using standard statistical software and methods, interpret and document results, identify significant variances, and develop recommendations to address variances. Develop, evaluate, and track highly advance air quality research projects.
Key Qualifications
- Experience overseeing technical or scientific environmental research projects/contracts.
- Experience monitoring, overseeing, or coordinating air quality planning activities.
- Experience developing scientific data used for air quality plans and programs.
- Experience developing technical documentation for federal or state environmental plans.
- Experience communicating technical information to various audiences.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
Experience in the administration of a program relevant to assignment
Or
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment

Current Tceq Employees
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Natural Resources Specialist V series.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Air Quality Division.
