Travelport is the brains behind lots of your travel bookings- plane, car or hotel. Our technology is used to book that magical holiday, infamous bachelorette party or long overdue school reunion. While we can’t solve mosquito bites or lost luggage, we can simplify a lot of the technical parts of travel, and we’re looking for the best thinkers to help us do it.

The key role of Senior Director / VP of Distribution has been created, to lead the strategic direction and technical evolution of Travelport’s distribution Product portfolio, which includes, Trip Services APIs, Cloud applications and desktop solutions. The new VP of Distribution will be tasked with driving product vision and innovation for distribution technologies, focused on API evolution, cloud migration and next generation connectivity solutions to better support how travel agencies and their technical teams integrate with Travelport's platform.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

The VP of Distribution Product will lead and (re)form their Product Management organisation and will be accountable for:

 

  • Defining (in conjunction with VP Global Product), and executing a comprehensive Product strategy and vision, that evolves and simplifies the traditional agent-keyboard interfaces to a developer centric API experience and strengthens the developer toolkit value proposition
  • Leading, shaping and developing a high performance, geographically dispersed, technical Product team of Product Managers and Business Analysis to create high quality, customer and developer centric, connectivity Products

 

  • Collaborate with technical teams in travel agencies to evolve and prioritise the development of APIs and SDKs Products

 

  • Driving a culture of collaboration across corporate functions, including commercial, marketing and engineering to ensure cohesive prioritised product development, product roadmaps and product launch

 

  • Champion consumer-grade user experience principles and lead legacy modernisation initiatives

 

  • Fostering a culture of innovation across the Product organisation and educating and championing the both new ways of working and the ‘art of the possible’ to the SLT and stakeholders

 

Desired Skills and Experience

To be effective in the role, the best candidates will have a demonstrable track record of successful technical Product Management Leadership roles and are specifically likely to have: 

 

  • Experience of full life cycle Product Management and of evolving and modernising legacy products

 

  • Significant leadership credentials to create, lead and reshape the team and move the people and organisation to the future state during a time of significant change

 

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a logical and data-driven approach to decision making

 

  • A strong and deep technical knowledge of API connectivity solutions, standards and developer experience

 

  • A deep understanding of Product Management processes, methodologies and tools

 

  • Outstanding communication skills to educate the team and wider functions about Product Management, Product roadmaps and strategies and new ways of working

 

  • Strong commercial credentials to support and develop technical investment cases

 

  • Experience of working at a strategic level to be credible and operate effectively at and contribute to the Product and Technology leadership team

 

  • Strong influencing and relationship management skills to work effectively with the executive leadership team, the P&T peer group, the Product and business stakeholders and the developer community 

 

  • A strong customer centric service ethic

 

  • Experience of developing high transaction, consumer grade, resilient secure solutions

 

  • A strength of character to successfully drive and embed change across the Product function, its ways of working and engagement with stakeholders

 

  • An abundance of common sense and flexibility to deliver and prioritise in a high change environment
