Sports Warehouse, Inc. is looking to bring on a motivated and detail-focused HR Coordinator to join our HR Team.  We value team members who not only understand HR strategy but are also ready to make a meaningful impact.


In this role, the HR Coordinator will handle key responsibilities like benefits administration and leave management for a large workforce of 400+ employees. The position also helps support employee relations, ensures compliance with labor laws, and maintains accurate HRIS records. This person will serve as a backup for onboarding, help with audits, and assist with open enrollment. Strong communication skills, discretion, high attention to detail and the ability to work closely with leadership are essential for success in this position. This is the perfect position for someone who has HR experience and wants to apply their knowledge in a team environment. 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Benefits Administration

  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs.
  • Serve as a resource for employee benefits inquiries, providing accurate information and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Assist with the annual benefits open enrollment process.

Leaves of Absence

  • Administer employee leaves, including FMLA, short-term disability, personal leave, and other applicable leave types, in accordance with federal and state laws and company policies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding leave inquiries, providing clear guidance on eligibility, procedures, and required documentation.
  • Track and monitor leave requests, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely communication with employees and relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the return-to-work process for employees on leave.

Worker Comp

  • Report and handle Workers Compensation claims with carrier and provide managers with information regarding restrictions and returning to work updates.
  • Monitor and record appropriate leave usage relative to Workers' Compensation benefits.
  • Maintain OSHA records.
  • Work with Safety Coordinators to assess safety practices. 

Employee Relations

  • Provide basic assistance to employees and managers on routine personnel issues.
  • Escalate complex issues to the HR Generalist or HR Manager as needed.

HRIS

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of HR-related documentation, including new hire paperwork, employee changes, and terminations, always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS (Human Resources Information System   

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening applications, and scheduling interviews.
  • Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation sessions, ensuring a positive onboarding experience.
  • Accurately complete I-9/E-Verify process.


Requirements

  

  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience or similar role is desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree recommended.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources and employment law.
  • Demonstrated experience in administering Leave of Absence programs (e.g., FMLA, STD, ADA)  and managing employee benefits.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Paylocity is a plus.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and a respect for employee privacy in all aspects of the job.
  • Ability to consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.


Work Environment:

This role functions within a professional and collaborative office setting, regularly utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, tablets and phones for day-to-day tasks. Physical Demands:

· May require standing for prolonged periods of time and use of hands, fingers, wrists, and arms while stringing racquets.

· Occasionally required to stoop, bend, twist, reach, kneel, crouch or climb.

· Must regularly lift and/or move objects that weigh less than ten pounds, occasionally lift and/or move items that weigh between 10 – 20 pounds, and rarely lift and/or move items that weigh between 20 - 50 pounds.
