This position offers the opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining a pristine and welcoming space for patients, visitors, and staff. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a commitment to health and safety standards, and a strong work ethic.

Your Impact

Patient Rooms and Public Areas:

  • Clean patient rooms, offices, and public areas.
  • Prepare rooms for new patients.
  • Respond to cleanliness-related emergencies.
  • Inspect rooms to ensure they meet hospital standards.
  • Report any damage or disturbances to supervisors.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Perform general cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, etc.).
  • Empty trash cans and replace liners.
  • Properly dispose of trash and recyclables.
  • Maintain hospital property through regular cleaning.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
  • Report maintenance issues as needed.

Health and Safety:

  • Transport medical waste and other infectious materials.
  • Follow hospital policies for handling bio-hazardous materials.
  • Dispose of waste according to regulations.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols.

Department Support:

  • Participate in on-call schedules and cross-training.
  • Assist in event setup and planning as needed.

Requirements

 

Education, Training, or Certifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret work assignments.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required.
  • High school diploma is a plus.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a cleaner or housekeeper preferred but not required.

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Understanding of healthcare sanitation procedures.
  • Physical stamina and mobility.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs.
  • Strong task prioritization skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to be on feet most of the shift.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, stoop, and reach.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Adequate vision.
  • No significant allergy to dust or cleaning supplies.

Work Environment:

  • Hospital setting with daytime shift schedules.
  • Work in the presence of other employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Exposure to hazardous waste and body fluids.
  • Use of floor strippers and chemical cleaning agents.
  • Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to equipment heat and noise.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to the Environmental Services Supervisor.

Salary:

  • Based on experience and qualifications.
