About the Role:
Are you an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with strong Heavy Equipment Manufacturing Industry experience? Are you looking to hold a key role in continuous improvement to ensure a high level of quality while streamlining processes and improving workflow efficiency? In this role you will research, design, and develop manufacturing processes to improve production flow, assembly methods and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Carries out process improvements, problem resolution, project management, and employee training in conjunction with Operations and Engineering Management.
- Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery, fixtures and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
- Reviews and analyzes data, first pass yield (FPY), Takt time attainment, line down time, and information in order to improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction quality improvements and efficiency.
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project.
- Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
- Establishes and maintains standard work and work instructions. Develops and maintain electrical delivery of assembly documentation.
- Working with supervisors, establish and maintain 5S in all stations of assigned area.
- Assures ergonomic work practices are being followed and constantly being improved.
- Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, new tooling, training team members and evaluating results.
- Contributes to the product introduction process with respect to cost estimation, process investigation, schedule development and prototype manufacture.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field strongly preferred.
- Two (2) to five (5) years relevant work experience preferably in a construction equipment manufacturing environment.
- Lean Manufacturing Certification preferred.
Required Skills:
- Background in same or like industry (construction equipment).
- Experience in troubleshooting.
- Heavy equipment design (including fixtures - understand fixture development/design).
- Hands on - ability to work on and design - to "make things work properly."
- Knowledge of metals (ex. how metals react to heat/cold - or welding/reworking).
- Fabrication knowledge.
- Solid Works knowledge.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong PC skills including Microsoft Suite and proficiency with Solid Works.
