Position Description:

Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist

The UofL School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics affiliated with the NORTON CHILDREN’S HEART INSTITUTE, and a part of Norton Children’s Medical Group, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible pediatric or adult cardiologist specializing in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD), with an academic role at the UofL School of Medicine.  This is a growing program with outcomes that rival similar programs in the region. The ideal candidate will join a full-service program made up of a team of 35 pediatric cardiovascular specialists, including three pediatric cardiovascular surgeons. Our cardiologists have expertise in pediatric cardiology, heart failure and transplantation, adult congenital heart disease, adult congenital and pediatric interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging, fetal cardiology, telemedicine, and pediatric and adult electrophysiology

ABOUT THE POSITION

  • Accepting applicants from adult cardiology and pediatric cardiology pathways

  • A growing practice with more than 1,300 ACHD patients

  • A dedicated ACHD team of three ACHD physicians, two nurse practitioners, a nurse clinician and a social worker

  • ACHD surgical program

  • ACHD catheterization and electrophysiology programs with capabilities for complex interventions, including transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement and temporary mechanical support (intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella heart pump)

  • Collaboration with the Norton Heart & Vascular Institute Structural Heart Program for additional complex interventions, including transcatheter tricuspid and aortic valve replacement and MitraClip procedure

  • Collaboration with local adult hospital’s ventricular assist device program

  • New catheterization and electrophysiology lab and cardiac intensive care unit

  • CT and MRI capability with new 3-Tesla Philips MRI scanners y Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography

  • Opportunity for ACHD travel clinic

Qualifications

  • Medical degree/diploma

  • Board certified/board eligible

  • Residency/fellowship certification
