The Patient Financial Services Representative (PFSR) serves as a key point of contact for patients regarding their financial responsibilities and insurance coverage. This role is responsible for verifying insurance, collecting payments, assisting with billing inquiries, and ensuring accurate and timely account resolution. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to scope services being rendered.
• Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness of information.
• Explain financial obligations to patients, including co-pays, deductibles, and payment plans.
• Collect payments, post transactions, and process refunds as appropriate.
• Resolve patient billing inquiries via phone, email, or in person.
• Precertification for urgent endoscopy procedures
• Turn patients over to collections.
• Communicate with insurance providers regarding claims, denials, and reimbursements.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
• Support the revenue cycle team with account follow-up and collections.
• Document all communications and account activity accurately in the system.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless patient financial experiences.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or certification in medical billing a plus.
• 1–2 years of experience in healthcare billing, collections, or customer service preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance policies, billing procedures, and healthcare terminology.
• Proficiency in using healthcare billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and professionalism.
