Job Description - Director, Finance - Capital Reporting BA

We are seeking someone to join our Project Management as a Business Analyst (Director to manage the Capital Reporting BA

In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources.

The Finance Centralised Management project team is responsible for managing a considerable percentage of Finance's technology spend, helping to deliver across a portfolio of projects including, Regulatory Capital, Leverage and Reporting, Financial Accounting and General Ledger renovation. The team is also front and centre of the technology architecture discussions. The team supports EU, Global and local regulatory driven initiatives across Financial and Capital Reporting including Basel 3, Capital Calculators, FED, SEC, PRA & EBA reporting initiatives.

Role will require candidate documenting requirements in the form of user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and liaising with end users to obtain sign off. The candidate is expected to lead team of Business Analysts/ Testing Team supporting Project implementation and manage stakeholders providing timely Project updates.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm

  • Responsible for and lead aspects of individual and team deliverables and projects, leveraging in-depth knowledge of

  • Finance functional area, product and/or client segments

  • Adhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls; proactively identify ways to reduce risk in work

  • Act as a culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm Standards

  • Business Analysis in Market Risk capital reporting focused on US and EMEA reporting requirements, whilst ensuring data sourcing and architecture solutions are scalable for Firmwide/MS Parent implementation.

  • Back Testing Business Analysis to ensure the changes in the systems are as per regulatory needs

  • Liaison with Clients and IT colleagues to identify new requirements, create user stories and track prioritization and remediation.

  • Develop collaborative relationships with a squad working across different departments and regions.

  • Lead and/ or contribute to key project workstreams relating to buildout of evolving Basel Norms, Capital Reporting requirements.

  • Take part in Squad/Fleet Agile ceremonies providing updates and reporting for Clients and Senior Management.

  • Communicate and escalate to line management as appropriate.

  • Adhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls

  • Act as a culture carrier; embody the Firm's values and hold yourself accountable to Firm standards

What you'll bring to the role:

  • In-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environment

  • Ability to operate independently with respect to most job responsibilities

  • Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and innovate processes

  • Subject Matter Expertise within existing Morgan Stanley role or business analysis background gained in the Financial Services Industry.

  • Experience in Capital Reporting, Basel III/Basel IV requirements for Capital Adequacy, Capital Ratio Calculations, and Regulatory Reporting Projects for US/EMEA region for capital reporting.

  • Expertise in Trade Life Cycle across Asset Classes with particular emphasis on Derivatives & Secured Financing Transactions (SFT).

  • Experience in projects/system involving calculation of Risk Weighted Assets (RWA), Calculation of Credit Risk Capital Requirement using Internal Rating Approach (IRB), and Standardized Approach.

  • Knowledge of Banking business and related products

  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to manage to tight deadlines whilst balancing multiple priorities.

  • Highly numerate with an attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with strong analytical and documentation skills.

  • Experience of data modelling and investigation with the ability to identify issues, develop and implement practical solutions.

  • Ability to understand and evaluate processes and key controls.

  • Experienced in implementing change effectively to improve existing processes.

  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and ability to liaise with colleagues/clients of all levels.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work consistently and efficiently to achieve goals either as an individual or as part of a team.

  • Experience of Microsoft Office and project management tools such as Microsoft Teams, Excel and Visio.

  • Experience of investigating, summarising and presenting results in a meaningful format to clients and Senior Management.

  • At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role


Desired Skills

  • Agile experience within a squad/Fleet

  • Knowledge of traditional Project Management approaches.

  • Knowledge and build experience of Alteryx Workflows

  • High proficiency in MS Excel, ability to analyse large datasets

  • Strong co-ordination/ organisation skills, co-ordinating across the various teams involved in project delivery (IT, end users/SMEs, other stakeholders)
