The Employee Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the enrollment, changes, and termination of the benefits plans for eligible employees and clergy in the parishes, schools, and Central Services of the Archdiocese and (in part) for employees of Catholic Charities of Baltimore.  Works collaboratively with other HR representatives, Benefits Administrators, IT, and parishes/school staff for over 140 locations and 2000+ employees.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitate benefit orientation and enrollment for newly hired employees.
  • Analyze employee benefit data and implement processes to improve data integrity.
  • Assist with the Annual open enrollment process, changes, and contributions to vendors.
  • Assist with the employee Wellness Program.
  • Assist with daily employee benefit questions and issue resolution.
  • Processes employee benefits, health, welfare, COBRA
  • Prepares applicable correspondence to employees regarding enrollment, changes or termination of benefits 
  • Responds to employee benefit questions
  • Mails employee benefit information for distribution
  • Assists with annual open enrollment
  • Distributes quarterly unemployment wage reports to locations
  • Create employee benefit files/folders
  • Process weekly benefit deduction change report
  • Review and update the mismatched dependent report weekly 
  • Process daily new hire and termination reports
  • Open and distribute mail daily
  • Provides general support for the division
  • Provide excellent customer service verbally and in writing

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Prior benefits experience or equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of two years Employee Benefits experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of HRMS, payroll and similar software strongly preferred - UKG
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimum supervision, a high level of accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with internal partners and external vendors
  • Experience with HRIS/HRMS systems preferably UKG
  • Ability to efficiently utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access)
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously  
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Pay Range:  $45,000 - 58,000, Annualized
