By joining our project, you will be working on an initiative of the European Commission focused on creating a more efficient, modern and secure customs environment within the European Union. Being part of this initiative set on a 5 years’ timeline, you will have the opportunity to work on topics such as digitalization of customs processes, streamlining customs procedures to facilitate trade and reduce costs, harmonization of customs rules across all EU member states and combating fraud.

What you'll be doing

 

• Being responsible for shaping the strategic direction and operational excellence of container orchestration and API gateway services.
• Working closely with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and efficient containerized environments and API gateway configurations.
• Developing and articulating a strategic vision for container orchestration services aligned with industry best practices and customer needs.
• Driving the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive product roadmap for container services, focusing on scalability, automation, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to prioritize features and enhancements based on business value and emerging technologies.
• Designing, configuring, and deploying API Gateway solutions to manage, secure, and monitor API traffic across distributed systems.
• Implementing container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker Swarm, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Automating deployment pipelines and infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Monitoring and optimizing container and API gateway performance, availability, and security.
• Documenting architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Supporting incident response and troubleshooting efforts related to container and API gateway environments.

 

What you'll bring along

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Informatics or a similar field of study, or equivalent working experience
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a similar role
• Proven experience in container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) and API gateway technologies (e.g., Kong, NGINX, AWS API Gateway, Apigee).
• Understanding of microservices architecture, service discovery, and API lifecycle management.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Helm, Ansible).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments.
• Knowledge of networking, security, and monitoring in containerized environments.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Ability to write clear documentation and standard operating procedures.
• A proactive, analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
• Relevant certifications in cloud, DevOps, or container technologies are a plus.
• Excellent command of both spoken and written English.
