Job Summary

The Financial Planning Analyst 1 (FPA1) is in the Finance and Accounting Department and involves data analysis for Interest Rate Risk, Liquidity Risk Management, back-office support for analyzed checking accounts, and other ad-hoc analysis. This position assists in the development and refinement of modeling techniques, stress testing of assumptions, and back testing of results. The FPA1 collaborates with other team members to obtain, maintain, and develop the data needed for models. This position performs data validation tasks to ensure data accuracy and integrity. The FPA1 collaborates with team members to ensure the production of standard management reports is completed timely. 

 

Essential Duties

            Interest Rate Risk Management

  • Prepare inputs to run IRR model.
  • Compose reports for the Asset Liability Management Council and Committee.
  • Assist with stress testing of assumptions, back test, and model validation.
  • Gather data to update assumptions such as prepayment, average life of deposits, betas, and others.
  • Understand and adhere to the Bank’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Bank’s risk appetite statements for interest rate risk. 

 

Liquidity Risk Management 

  • Assist with the preparation of the liquidity stress test (LST) and other liquidity management reports. 
  • Collaborate with team members to assemble, reconcile, and validate the inputs for the LST.
  • Assist in developing and updating the risk events that comprise the LST.
  • Understand and adhere to the Bank’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Bank’s risk appetite statements for liquidity. Understand and apply the principles of the Bank’s Contingency Funding Plan within the scope of the LST.

 

Account Analysis 

  • Updates customers’ account setting in the core system.
  • Prepare proforma analysis.
  • Responds to inquiries from Branches and other departments.

 

Other 

  • Execute ad-hoc analysis and other requests as needed with minimal supervision.
  • Understands profitability, breakeven point, IRR, and other common financial concepts.
  • Updates desktop procedures and contributes to policy updates.
  • Follows current policy & procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Complies with all State and Federal Banking regulatory requirements, including but not limited to: BSA, Anti-Money Laundering OFAC, CIP, Financial Elder Abuse Reporting, Sexual Harassment, Information Security and privacy requirements. This position will elevate suspicious activity to supervisory staff and/or BSA department. Completes compliance and other technical training workshops as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge 

  • Basic accounting 
  • Intermediate Excel skills 
  • Basic knowledge of banking operations and products 

 

Preferred Knowledge

  • Experience with any Interest Rate Risk and ALM software.
  • Knowledge of banking software applications such as Jack Henry Silverlake.
  • Intermediate level experience with query report writers such as Cognos or Power BI.
  • Experience with data management, data mining, or data analytics.

Officer Title Eligibility 

For qualified positions, the Bank may designate Officer Titles to employees who meet defined competencies for an eligible position. This position is not eligible for an Officer Title.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment 

  • Requires repetitive movement.
  • Requires sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires lifting up to 25lbs.

  • Office setting with controlled temperature.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related areas.
  • 1-3 years of related experience required, or 3 years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
