Job Summary

The Food Service Worker (FSW) will provide high-quality customer service to students, faculty, staff and visitors of Frontier Nursing University while on campus. The Food Service Worker will assist in the inventory and overall production of meal and catering services. The Food Service Worker is responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining hall, including dishwasher operation. Maintains a focus on Food Services and contributes to the overall kitchen operation in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility. The FSW is also responsible for preparing and/or building food items while adhering to food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Food Service Manager, Sous Chef, and Cook in daily tasks and needs pertaining to Food Services. .

  • Prepares and builds food items according to standardized recipes and directions

  • Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures

  • Sets up workstations, including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, steam tables, etc

  • Breaks down and cleans and sanitizes work stations

  • Assists in serving food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction 

  • Replenishes food items and ensures the product is stocked to appropriate levels

  • Properly cleans and closes the kitchen at the end of the shift, including dishwasher operation. 

  • Responsible for exemplifying excellent customer service and professionalism with students, employees, and guests. 

  • Responsible for all student, employee and guest accommodations in relation to Food Service, including special needs and requests

  • Provide service to the University through activities such as involvement in FNU shared governance (e.g. committees, workgroups), FNU sponsored activities (e.g. charity drives, community-outreach activities), and/or service to the profession (e.g. presentations, professional organization committee work).

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to use Google Suites for communication

  • Knowledge of Food Service Policies and Procedures

  • Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a wide diversity of individuals.

  • Ability to organize details on an ongoing basis

  • Ability to organize workloads, delegate tasks, and meet deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience in food service or customer service like position

  • Possess a valid driver’s license. 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand/stoop/kneel/ and lift up to 50lb

  • Must be able to handle, feel, reach

  • Must be able to travel around the work area

  • Must be able to get low to the ground

  • Must be willing to work in inclement weather

  • Must be willing to work special events/weekends/holidays on an as-needed basis


Reporting Relationship

  • This position reports directly to the Food Service Manager
