About the Business Analyst, VBC:

We're looking for a Value-Based Care (VBC) Business Analyst to join our team and drive performance, visibility, and compliance across our value-based care programs. This hybrid role blends business insight with technical skill—you’ll serve as the subject matter expert on our Power BI dashboards, manage analytics and reporting for patient programs, and support strategic decision-making across clinical, operational, and financial teams.

In addition to modeling and analytics work, you’ll lead critical compliance responsibilities tied to CMS programs—including managing mandatory patient notifications, drafting program updates, and supporting responses to CMS audits. You’ll help ensure that our reporting and operations meet regulatory standards while also identifying opportunities to improve outcomes and efficiency.

Ideal candidates are self-starters who thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, frequent pivots, and taking ownership of problems—big or small. You’ll need strong Excel skills (including building and maintaining

models), the ability to synthesize and analyze data sets, and a passion for using data to improve healthcare. A baseline knowledge of SQL and experience with healthcare data are strong advantages. Excellent communication skills are essential; you’ll often be the bridge between technical teams, operations, and business stakeholders.

Upperline is looking for strong performers who can work independently, think critically, and collaborate cross-functionally to support our mission of improving care through data. This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to deepen their knowledge of value based care operations and strategy, sharpen their analytics toolkit, and grow quickly within a dynamic company.

What you’ll do:

· Partner with data engineers to guide the development and maintenance of clinical performance dashboards

· Act as the liaison between clinical teams and end users to resolve dashboard issues, answer questions, and support adoption

· Own and execute CMS compliance activities, including:

o Manage mandatory patient notifications

o Support CAHPS survey compliance

o Advancing beneficiary engagement and enhancement objectives

o Develop Governing Body materials and meeting minutes

· Prepare and deliver a weekly executive readout summarizing key performance trends, risks, and priorities across VBC programs

· Navigate ambiguity and evolving priorities, independently driving forward projects with minimal direction

· Build financial and operational models to inform business decisions, performance improvement, and compliance readiness

What you’ll bring:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, data analytics or a related field

· 3+ years of experience in a consulting analytical, reporting, or strategic operations role

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience building and managing models

· Experience managing dashboards and reporting tools (Power BI strongly preferred)

· Baseline SQL knowledge (or a strong desire and aptitude to learn)

· Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills—you can translate data into insights for a wide range of audiences, including executive leadership

· Self-starter with a strong work ethic, a solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to operate with minimal direction

· High attention to detail and accuracy; you pride yourself on getting the output right

· Naturally curious with a hunger to learn, ask questions, and continuously improve how we work

· Passion for healthcare and improving patient outcomes through data-driven decision-making

· Experience supporting CMS programs or value-based care initiatives is a strong plus

· Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with frequent pivots

· Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed

· Experience with tools like Snowflake, Athena, or other database and EMR is a plus, but not required
