Staff Accountant

Location: Flexible (Bucharest). This role offers the flexibility to work from home, within proximity to an office location.

The Role

The person in this role will be responsible for…

Maintaining and analyzing financial records, preparing financial statements, and assisting with auditing processes, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, help with tax filings, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization.

What You Will Do

• Maintaining Financial Records:
  • This includes tasks like managing general ledgers, reconciling accounts, and preparing journal entries for assigned subsidiaries.
  • Maintaining the Asset register for assigned subsidiaries within the group.
• Assisting with Audits:
  • Helping prepare documentation and support the audit process, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Tax Preparation and Compliance:
• Help prepare and review VAT returns, local statutory reporting ensuring adherence to local laws and regulations.
• Reconciling Accounts:
• Ensure that financial records match, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.

• Strong Accounting Knowledge: A solid understanding of accounting principles and practices is essential.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and solve problems.
• Attention to Detail: Accuracy is crucial in this role.
• Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, management, and external auditors.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting: A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.

Bonus Points For

• Proficiency in Accounting Software: Familiarity with ERP accounting software especially NetSuite.
• Fluency in other European languages especially Romanian, German, Dutch or French is an advantage. A high level of written and spoken English is a must.
• Experience: Entry-level or mid-level experience in accounting is preferred.
