Position Overview:
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Richmond, VA. This is a direct hire opportunity offering a competitive salary and the chance to contribute to the design and development of innovative mechanical products and systems.
In this role, you will be involved in mechanical engineering, drafting, and testing. You’ll collaborate with other engineers and technical staff to develop new products, improve existing ones, and ensure compliance with engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop new or existing products using CAD tools
Interpret and prepare blueprints, schematics, and layouts
Support standard component library development
Assist with technical proposal preparation
Design and implement feasibility and testing methods
Ensure compliance with engineering standards (MIL, NAS, AS, etc.)
Provide technical information and support to the team
Evaluate design feasibility, cost, and maintenance needs
Modify systems/products to meet specifications
Research and apply engineering principles to improve processes
Write technical requirements for development projects
Recommend and test alternative designs
Study production processes to identify improvements

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or 3–5 years of relevant experience
Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA V5, Pro-E, AutoCAD)
Familiarity with GD&T and manufacturing/inspection processes
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management Systems is a plus
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
High attention to detail and accuracy

May require travel
Flexible schedule availability, including occasional evenings or weekends
