As a Junior DevOps Engineer at Qualys, you will play a supporting yet impactful role in maintaining and enhancing our DevOps ecosystem. This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in scripting, a curiosity for automation and orchestration, and a desire to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and technically challenging environment.
You will work closely with experienced engineers, gaining exposure to a wide range of tools and practices used in real-world production environments — from orchestration platforms and CI/CD pipelines to observability and monitoring systems.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the automation of deployment pipelines and infrastructure setup using DevOps best practices.
Support orchestration processes and tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible) to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
Collaborate on troubleshooting issues in our staging and production environments.
Participate in maintaining the health of monitoring systems such as Prometheus, ELK, ClickHouse, and OpenTelemetry (OTel).
Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to support team knowledge sharing.
Continuously learn and stay updated with new technologies and industry trends related to DevOps and site reliability.
Must-Have Skills & Knowledge
Scripting: Proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Shell, Bash, or Perl) for automation and operational tasks.
Orchestration Fundamentals: Understanding of how orchestration tools work and are used to manage infrastructure and deployments.
DevOps Tools: Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), version control systems (e.g., Git), and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
Monitoring Concepts: Basic understanding of how monitoring systems track and visualize system health, performance, and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Hands-on experience with Linux or Unix-based systems.
Basic knowledge of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or OpenTelemetry).
Interest in learning about Kubernetes and large-scale production environments.
