Business Manager Head of COO - Operational Design, Control & Resilience.

 

The Opportunity

As the Business Manager ODCR, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the Head of ODCR and the ODCR Management Team. Your role is pivotal in advising, preparing, and reporting high-quality information to facilitate well-informed decision-making for the ODCR Management. You will actively propose and contribute to continuous improvements, collaborating closely with various ODCR Management Team members and our key stakeholders. In this role, the key elements are:

  • Strategic Support: Assist the Head of ODCR in shaping and implementing the team's vision and strategy, ensuring alignment and smooth collaboration towards shared goals.
  • Information Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for individuals seeking support or information from ODCR, directing them to the appropriate processes or contacts.
  • Visibility and Contribution: Engage in various ODCR initiatives connected to the broader Operations business line, organizing international events in Amsterdam and abroad and working together with ING’s global COO, NFR and Compliance areas.

The Team
ODCR is an international COO department with a global team at the Head Office (CEDAR) and local teams in all ING locations worldwide. As a member of the ODCR Management Team, which comprises 10 members including the Business Manager and Personal Assistant roles, you will play a crucial role in our operations. ODCR is dedicated to engaging and enabling risk owners in their control and resilience accountability, emphasizing the efficiency and effectiveness of 1LoD processes and activities. Our services and processes are designed to scale globally while addressing local needs, ensuring the most efficient way of working within ODCR and the businesses we support.

 

Role and Responsibilities

                                                    

Support the Head of ODCR and ODCR MT:

    • Act as a sparring partner, sounding board, and troubleshooter.
    • Help design and implement the team’s vision and strategy.
    • Prepare MT meetings, offsites, target setting meetings, Townhalls, and Leadership calls. Set agendas and lead discussions to make sure key objectives are met.
    • Follow up on actions to be completed by the MT.

 

Drive Operational Excellence:

  • Monitor and drive progress on key organizational priorities.
    • Take on projects or tasks that align with the organizational strategy.
    • Improve communication within and between our global business units and locations

 

Be the Expert on the ODCR  Organization:

    • Develop and maintain the COO ODCR operational calendar.
    • Identify and execute recognition events and awards
    • Serve as the point of contact for communications with various stakeholders
    • Organize the yearly ODCR Strategy Event in Amsterdam and the ODCR leads conference (on location abroad)
    • Build and maintain a network within the organization.

 

How to succeed:

The role requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to create structure and alignment through clear process and follow-through, a sharp focus on delivery and the ability to communicate and partner with a wide range of stakeholders.

    • You have a consultancy approach and can work both independently and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines and complete multiple urgent tasks. You know when to act or escalate issues as needed.
    • You are experienced in creating concise, impactful presentations using PowerPoint and other office applications, delivering visually appealing and strong content.
    • You have a strong work ethic and a structured, disciplined ‘Can Do’ approach that ensures tasks get done.
    • You are an excellent communicator and collaborator across all levels of the organization.
    • You possess high cultural and political sensitivity, enabling you to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders in a diverse and international environment while maintaining confidentiality.
    • You are skilled at making complex analyses and can anticipate short-term opportunities and threats. You connect current events and market knowledge with corporate strategy and long-term vision.

 

Your profile

    • Master’s degree is preferred
    • Must understand the operational drivers of ING’s business
    • At least 3 years of work experience working with multi-country senior stakeholders
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English

 

Sensitive Position

This vacancy is one that is deemed ‘sensitive’. Hence an extra security clearance is required by the Corporate Special Investigations (CSI). Only after a positive CSI clearance will the person be allowed to be appointed to this position.
