The Controls and Customer Outcomes (CCO) team resides within the Retail Bank. CCO’s purpose is to drive sustainable enhancements to business practices and processes that deliver better outcomes for our customers, shareholders, and the community.  We do this through our four strategic pillars of inspire, lead, innovate and execute for the business (RBS) we support.

The Control Automation & Assurance team is responsible for ensuring that strong system controls are in place and related business decisions are well informed, timely and socialised. The team, supporting RBS, is responsible for driving control automation, optimizing control testing/assurance activities, and performing control testing over business process system (automated) controls.

This is a high impact role where your insights will help shape the future of risk assurance through automation, data driven decision making, and strategic stakeholder engagement.
 

As a Senior Analyst, you’ll play a key role in strengthening the control environment across RBS by executing control testing activities aligned with our automated controls assurance framework. You’ll partner with Line 1 Risk teams to embed effective controls, provide robust feedback, and recommend enhancements that drive continuous improvement.
 

What You’ll Do:

• Execute control testing and assurance activities across automated and semi-automated business processes.
• Provide expert feedback to Line 1 Risk teams on control design and effectiveness.
• Use data to identify risks, generate insights, and recommend actionable improvements.
• Support the implementation of continuous and automated assurance tools and platforms.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across RBS to embed a strong risk culture and improve control maturity.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance the business control environment.
   

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

• Solid experience in operational risk management and compliance frameworks, with a focus on control design and testing.
• Proven ability to audit IT and business process controls, including areas like IT security, software development, application controls, and identity & access management.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive insights and decisions.
• Excellent consulting and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the business.
• Clear and confident written and verbal communication, capable of translating complex risk concepts into business-friendly language.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of banking operations and business drivers.
• Experience with SQL and Tableau is desirable but not essential.
