Description

The Director of Public Relations will carry out initiatives to gain positive local and national exposure for company successes, business updates, and property development activities. They will achieve this by:

 

  • Collaborating on, researching, writing, and disseminating press releases, company statements, and other communications.
  • Maintaining relationships with key governmental officials, state housing agencies, media personalities, trade organizations, and trade publications.
  • Building and maintaining a contact database.
  • Maintaining a database of company statistics, photos, videos, and other assets.
  • Coordinating WCCI response when news outlets and reporters request interviews, tours, photos, and other information or assets. This includes crisis management.
  • Preparing WCCI spokespersons for interviews through briefings, talking points, and other background material.
  • Reviewing online media/news sites for company-related coverage; report mentions to WCCI teams.
  • Actively monitoring, reporting on, and advising on media coverage.
  • Coaching company personnel to prepare for media or trade engagements. 
  • Acting as company spokesperson when necessary.
  • Actively managing social media calendar, software, posting, and online discourse.
  • Overseeing production of graphic, audio, video, and web assets.
  • Submitting company properties for industry awards.
  • Coordinating online reputation management.
  • Assisting with search engine optimization.
  • Pitching and securing interviews and features to promote the company.

 

The Director of Public Relations will produce company events, such as community grand openings/groundbreakings, mixers, charity benefits, and VIP tours. This will include:

 

  • Coordinating detailed plan with stakeholders. Recruiting stakeholders for event participation.
  • Collecting necessary information from internal and external parties.
  • Administering event tracking software (Eventbrite, etc.).
  • Coordinating all event logistics (power, refreshments, tents/tables, décor, AV, parking, etc.)
  • Producing event collateral as needed (posters, signage, etc.).
  • Coordinating with all vendors.
  • Managing all aspects of the on-site presentation.

 

Qualifications

Required education, skills, and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • Experience in public relations, communications, and marketing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and editing skills.
  • Experience with Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, mass email systems, and social media management systems.
  • Extensive organizational skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with governmental offices, media outlets, influencers, and industry leaders.
  • Must be comfortable traveling alone or in small groups to urban, suburban, or rural areas.
  • Basic photography skills.
  • Familiarity with digital media, social media platforms, and emerging PR trends.
     

Preferred skills and experience

  • Experience utilizing native advertising.
  • Experience in working with C-level executives, governmental officials, and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with multimedia content creation, including video production and graphic design.
  • Basic photography skills.
  • Experience managing a database.
  • Experience with WordPress.
  • Experience with project management software.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position currently has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office or remote environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.  This job also requires travel to remote areas, physical exertion at events—some of which are held in areas with minimal infrastructure. Nights or weekends may be required.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  This position will occasionally require lifting of 30lbs, traveling to indoor or outdoor event locations, and engaging with others for a period of 4-5 uninterrupted hours.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours per week 40, sometimes more based on travel and schedule.

 

Travel

 Travel, alone or in small groups, will be sporadic, but at times may be 10 or more days in a 30 day period.
