Job Summary

To analyse the risks associated with new lending, structuring and derivative proposals with the intention of facilitating new business.

Job Description

Risk Management: Time Split 40%

 

·     Assess customers business through the analysis of Business and Credit risks associated with the provision of the Bank’s products and services to the customer

·     Develop high quality credit solutions with the view of obtaining fast credit approval.

·     Preparation of Credit applications with paper attachments for recommendations to the Sanctioner.

·     Responsible for managing financial information produced by customers

·     Assist Relationship Managers to prepare Credit applications with paper attachments for recommendations to the Sanctioner.

·     Assist the Business Banking unit to identify key lending areas and decide on risk appetite (Mandate & Scale) for the sectors.

·     Monitor and Control quality of portfolio using ‘Condition of Sanction’ triggers where possible and in accordance with ABSA guidelines and policy – Discussing with Sanctioner trigger events if they give cause for concern, advising the Relationship Manager simultaneously.

·     Manage the end-to-end process for the risk reports, challenging Relationship Managers where control lapses or potential risk has been identified.

·     Act as a source of technical excellence and point of reference in relation to risk matters for the RMs, Credit Risk and RCU.

·     Provide input for the design and formulation of Wholesale Credit Policy (when required).

·     To produce robust Management Information for reporting to relevant stakeholders within set deadline.

 

Business Risk Partnership: Time split 40%

 

·     Work in partnership with Relationship Managers on new and existing credit applications, providing guidance on credit appetite and consulting with Credit team as appropriate

·     Deliver service in line with agreed business needs and policy framework

·     Attend customer meetings with the Relationship Manager

·     Support and contribute to specific industry focus as determined by the Corporate and Credit teams

·     Proactively contribute to embedding agreed change management initiatives in support of process and quality improvements, cost reductions and development of Business Banking staff.

·     Work in partnership with colleagues and proactively anticipate, respond to and seek to exceed the expectations of customers.

·     Maintain interactive relationship with Corporate Banking Team and other functions to ensure rectifying outstanding issues

·     Attend Risk Meetings.

 

Teamwork: Time split 10%

 

·     Support Business Credit Manager in delivering effective performance development for individuals within the team

·     Develop and maintain a close working relationship with RMs and other functions.

·     Develop and maintain a database of management information to assist the monitoring and control at the Corporate and individual portfolio level.

·     Attend all meetings relevant to the job and to report on issues affecting team performance.

·     Participate, support and contribute in team activities, launches and social occasions conducted by the Business Banking.

 

Risk & Control: Time split 10%

·     Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.

·     Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.

Education

Higher Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
