The Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at Levine Children’s Hospital is actively seeking an Advanced Practice Practitioner to join their team of providers. They currently have a group of eight physicians and one APP. The services provided are primarily located at our main campus at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. Levine Children's Hospital (LCH)is a 253-bed pediatric hospital located on the campus of Atrium Health Charlotte, NC. LCH has repeatedly been ranked among the Best Children’s Hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, most recently in ten pediatric specialties for 2024-2025, including Urology, Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Neonatology, Nephrology, Cancer, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Lung Surgery and Pediatric and Adolescent Behavioral medicine.  The growing academic department brings exciting opportunities for innovative patient care, team-based care models, teaching, and research.

Job Summary

The position will be for inpatient services. The schedule will be determined based on needs of division but will not include weekends, nights, or call. Responsibilities in the inpatient setting include comprehensive care to all patients in collaboration with the attending physicians and resident team; rounding daily and providing acute care management of those patients listed under the Infectious Disease service. This will include new consults as well as rounding on current patients.

Essential Functions

  • Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments
  • Records findings of examinations, assessments and plan of care
  • Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and radiology examinations
  • Determines treatment plan for patient
  • Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record
  • Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize and concentrate
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the population served
  • Attends, participates and contributes to group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures when requested

Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity. Must be able to react and perform in stressful situations.


Education, Experience and Certifications.
The applicant must have or be eligible for a DEA license and be approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. The applicant must be eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC. BLS for Healthcare Provider and PALS is required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. The applicant should demonstrate appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and concentrate.


Nurse Practitioner
A Master’s degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice is required. Acute care board certification is required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse is required. Certification in practice from a nationally recognized certifying body is required. ACNP, AGACNP or PNP-AC board certification is required for the population served.


Physician Assistant
The applicant must me a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program, with a Master’s degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is preferred. Experience in pediatric critical care is preferred.

Pay Range

$46.55 - $69.85
