  • Schedule: Full Time, Days 4x10 hour shifts per week- No Holidays, No Weekends, No on-call
  • About our clinic: Our state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center features eight operating rooms and two procedure rooms, along with 32 beds dedicated to preparation, recovery, and post-anesthesia care. Our services include general surgery, otolaryngology, orthopedics, urology, and plastic surgery.

Job Summary: Independently plans and provides professional nursing care for patients in the ambulatory setting in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.

What You'll Need:

  • Graduation from accredited school of nursing.
  • Ambulatory Clinic: BSN preferred. Two years of acute care experience required for clinics. Prefer acute care experience within the last 10 years.
  • Ambulatory Surgical Center: Minimum of one year PACU experience preferred. Refresher course required for nurses who have not worked in an Operating Room for five years or more.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within one year in select areas.

Essential Functions:

  •   Registered Nurse Ambulatory- Outpatient provides patient/family centered care, acting as partner and adviser assists and supports patients and families to optimally manage their health care, respecting their culture and values, individual needs, health goals and treatment preferences.
  • Registered Nurse Ambulatory-Outpatient applies critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment in order to expedite appropriate care and treatment, especially given that the patient may present with complex problems or potentially life threatening conditions.
  • Registered Nurse Ambulatory-Outpatient facilitates continuity of care using the nursing process, multidisciplinary collaboration, and coordination of appropriate health care services and community resources across the care continuum. Interacts with patients during face-to-face encounters or through a variety of telecommunication strategies, often establishing long term relationships.
  • Registered Nurse Ambulatory- Outpatient applies the provisions of the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to their own professional obligations and for the patients entrusted to their care. The Registered Nurse demonstrates  professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Demonstrates the ability to function in a professional setting through active participation in a professional practice model. Includes participating in shared governance, adherence to standards of care, participation in peer review and professional development promoting leadership and clinical excellence, effective team skills, autonomous practice and acknowledgment of accountability for actions and critical thinking. The registered nurse pursues lifelong learning that updates and expands their clinical, organizational, and professional roles and responsibilities.
  • Registered Nurse Ambulatory-Outpatient focuses on patient safety and the quality of nursing care by applying appropriate nursing interventions, such as identifying and clarifying patient needs, performing procedures, conducting health education, promoting patient advocacy, coordinating nursing and other health services, assisting the patient to navigate the health care system, and evaluating patient outcomes.
  • Registered Nurse Ambulatory-Outpatient is knowledgeable about and provides leadership in the clinical setting and provides operational accountability for and coordination of nursing services, including the appropriate skill mix and delegation of roles and responsibilities for licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel.
  • Registered Nurse Ambulatory-Outpatient designs, administers, and evaluates nursing services within the organization in accord with relevant federal requirements, state laws and nurse practice acts, regulatory standards, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Registered Nurse Ambulatory-Outpatientparticipates in regular team meetings and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Registered Nurse maintains knowledge of care teams for coordination of patient care, self-management, population management and communication skill.
  • Performs and maintains competency for point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with WFBH Point of Care policies and with applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families
  • Ability to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others
  • Ability to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care
  • Ability to use the computer and learn new software programs
  • Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper
    documentation tools
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking with the ability to move or lift at least fifty pounds
  • Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions
  • Working knowledge and completion of appropriate TJC and other regulatory requirements

Pay Range

$32.45 - $48.70
