Principal, Japan Client Portfolio Management

Position Overview

Apollo is seeking an individual to join its expanding Client Portfolio Management & Innovation team (CPMI) to focus on the development of new products and distribution channels. The primary goal of CPMI is to help drive strategic growth of Apollo’s product offerings and distribution channels within Global Wealth. Falling within Apollo’s capital formation unit – Client & Product Solutions (CPS), this team is fundamental to the future growth of Apollo’s fundraising endeavors. This position will be focused on leading Apollo’s multi-asset strategies across Japan.

Primary Responsibilities

• Pitch and lead the delivery of Apollo’s platform / strategies to the Japanese Wealth investor base.
• Understand and analyze market dynamics and innovate with respect to driving business development and engagement with clients, working with regional and global teams within Apollo to tailor products accordingly where necessary.
• Engage with regional and global GWMS sales teams to continuously evolve pitch / approach to meet market dynamics and nuances.
• Collaborate with senior sales leadership across CPS to influence strategy for new product launches in the region.
• Constantly seek to build relationships, gaining a thorough understanding of investors’ internal approval processes and how new products fit in the context of their overall portfolios.
• Utilize breadth of asset class knowledge to lead a wide range & high volume of client dialogues with investors.

Qualifications & Experience

• 12+ years of industry experience related to private investments and capital markets:
  • Capital markets knowledge within Japan and globally is crucial.
  • Private market experience is a plus, but not a prerequisite.
• Deep understanding of asset management industry, how global diversified firms operate, and how product distribution / fundraising works, specifically in global wealth.
• Experience in business development, strategy, research, and synthesis of research findings.
• Strong ability to multi-task and pivot between research, analysis, and written communication of findings.
• Mature, self-starter with strong ability to think independently, strategically, and outside-the-box to generate new potential organic growth opportunities.
• Outstanding written and oral presentation skills must be highly developed and refined in this individual’s current responsibilities.
• Operates as a team player and excels at navigating a rigorous and fast-paced work environment – energetic, enthusiastic, and personable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Native fluency in Japanese language
• Strong verbal and written English communication
