What you will be doing
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Manufacturing Engineer within our team at the HTRC in Ansty. You will support centre operations, ensuring high quality delivery of research and fast make Turbine component manufacturing activities for our customers.
The HTRC is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce. The 5,800 sqm Centre is funded through a £40M investment by Rolls-Royce plc, matched by a £20M government grant through the Higher Education Funding Council for England’s (HEFCE) and UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (UKRPIF). Housing state of the art design, simulation, casting, machining and advanced metrology capabilities, the Centre, based near Coventry, enables production scale research and experimentation to deliver rapid high-quality product and process innovation for Turbine component manufacture.
Responsibilities
Through close interaction with the co-located Engineering community, you will ensure manufacturing processes and product technologies are aligned to Turbines commodity strategies and are capable of meeting the quality, cost, rate and lead time requirements for insertion into current and future engine projects. In the role you will:
- Ensure that manufacturing processes and methods are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme.
- You will develop, implement, validate, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes, digital systems and/or methods of manufacture. To ensure they are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time.
- Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources and costs, gaining buy-off and communicating current status to relevant stakeholders. Ensure issues and risks are resolved to meet project costs, timescales and technical outcomes.
- Work with interfacing teams and local experts to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes and digital systems are understood and accounted for as required.

What we’re looking for:

- Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent).
- Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills and drive to deliver within a high-performance environment.
- General awareness of Manufacturing Systems and enabling software tools relevant to the business.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a data driven approach to problem solving.
- Desirable to have experience in a casting or machining manufacturing engineering research or production environment, including delivery of improvement and/ or new part introduction projects.

The professional level and salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate but is anticipated to be SNBG 7-10.
