Summary
The HSE Advisor plays a vital role in ensuring that our site personnel and activities comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards. This HSE Advisor role is responsible for assisting in the developing, implementing, and maintaining our HSE management system, as well as providing guidance and support to our employees and management team. This role will be on a 10 / 4 roster rotation on a 15 month fixed term contract. Applicants must be Adelaide based as these are not FIFO positions.
Main Duties
- Implement our HSE management system at the project and operational level.
- Conduct and support supervisory staff to conduct scheduled inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate control measures.
- Mentor and provide support and advice to our workers and supervisors on HS procedures and instructions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in the delivery of all HS initiatives and education.
- Facilitate and assist in control/investigation of unplanned Health and Safety events, with management assistance as required to achieve optimum response outcomes where possible.
- Assist in investigating unplanned Health and Safety events, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective and preventive actions to minimize the likelihood of recurrence.
- Facilitate and participate in emergency response drills and exercises, ensuring that employees are adequately trained and prepared for potential emergencies.
- Input data and utilise online apps and resources for managing HS at the project level.
- Align with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and other external stakeholders to keep informed of contemporary Health and Safety approaches.
- Participate in working groups and committees and assist in the coordination of external HSE-related audits, inspections, and meetings.
- Promote continuous improvement by promoting HSE initiatives, recognizing achievements, and actively seeking feedback from employees and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Cert 4 in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419) or higher (mandatory).
- Valid Australian work rights.
- Valid Driver Licence.
- Valid General Safety Induction / White Card (CPCWHS1001)
- Current First Aid - (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) Certifications.
- Formally trained in an incident investigation training course preferred such as Conduct Safety and Health Investigations (RIIWHS301E) / Lead Initial Response to and Investigate WHS Incidents (BSBWHS515) / Investigate Incidents (PMAWHS310).
- Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing (HLTPAT005) or equivalent preferred.
- Alcolizer Tester training (LE5) preferred.
- Operate as part of an emergency control organisation (PUAFER005) preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian HSE legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proficient in using Microsoft applications including general software and tools for data management, reporting, and analysis.
- Return To Work Coordinator preferred.
- Certificate IV trainer assessor qualifications.
