Within Roche Diagnostics, the Molecular Lab Network Area focus is delivering innovative solutions and providing clinical insights, and medically actionable insights, leading to improved outcomes that change people's lives. We bring together the diagnostic power of molecular and sequencing technologies. In the Molecular Lab Network Area, we  manage a comprehensive portfolio of instrumentation and integrated molecular solutions to multiply value for healthcare through streamlining  molecular testing. Our flagship products include highly automated PCR analyzers such as the proven cobas 5800/6800/8800 analyser family.

As a Hardware Design Subchapter Lead, you will be a member of the PCR HW Development Chapter Leadership Team, which is based in Rotkreuz and our main portfolio is molecular work area systems (IVD) and sample prep (IVD) with key elements optics and thermal cycling. Your role is to oversee and guide Hardware Engineering (electronics, mechanics and firmware) capabilities within your sub-chapter. You provide effective leadership to your team, offering guidance, coaching, and support throughout project execution. You foster a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and accountability. Your responsibilities also include maintaining and improving Hardware Design resources, aligning them with industry standards and best practices. Collaboration with other leads is crucial to adapt your team to the needs of the projects they serve, for sharing best practices and allocating resources effectively. Overall, your role is instrumental in driving hardware development excellence and contributing to the success of Roche Diagnostics. Furthermore, you will interact closely with other Chapters to determine how to deliver comprehensive and successful solutions to business challenges.   

We are looking for candidates that are fully committed to Roche's Vision, Architect, Coach, Catalyst (VACC) model of leadership, and can strategically combine these roles and behaviors with a network approach to lead.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of approximately 20-25 people including contractors as a line manager following the Roche leadership principles with a creative mindset.

  • You co-create within the chapter a strategy to gain efficiencies and shape the future of the team (mechanics, electronics & firmware developers).

  • Ensure that the capabilities within your sub-chapter are aligned with the current and future needs of the RDS organization. 

  • Proactively engage with various stakeholders and represent our chapter towards some key projects. In addition, you will collaborate with other organizations within Roche Diagnostics for e.g. senior leaders from other R&D chapters or networks, Global Customer Support and Operations. ​

  • You are also supporting or doing a part of Product Owner and/or Product Manager for the products/components your team provides to other RnD teams.

Who You Are

  • University degree in a relevant discipline, preferably mechanical engineering (as you lead the chapters Mechanical Discipline)

  • 10+ years of experience in medical device product development (mechatronic), ideally in
    In Vitro Diagnostics Products.

  • Strong experience in leadership, preferably with a track record of creating and leading diverse, global teams.

  • Ability to navigate within an organization with evolving needs, while maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, fairness, open communication, and consensus-building skills.

  • Drive process and efficiency improvement, taking care of tools and best practices.

  • Fluent in German and English (verbal and written).
