Job Purpose: Manages and provides oversight of safety program to support the Contract Manager, Assistant Contract Manager, and Regional Safety Manager to create a positive safety culture & to deliver expected safety results.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Supervision of safety function, training function, safety coordinator(s), trainer(s) or other applicable positions.
2. Manages, plans, implements, coordinates, and assesses safety, training and health programs to ensure high standards are achieved while maintaining operational efficiencies.
3. Oversees, measures and evaluates safety programs, driver/trainee training, Workers Compensation, and investigations related to outcomes including employment actions
4. Analyzes safety records, develops recommendations, and implement corrections as required to include incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies in order to make employment determinations and institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
5. Demonstrates and promotes a safe environment at all times and advises the company’s location and regional team on safety issues and compliance including specific projects and initiatives for adoption
6. Maintains compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations, company and local policies and procedures and required documentation.
7. Implements, monitors and delivery of the contents of classroom training to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company requirements.
8. Initiates and maintains all training files to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations, company policies and procedures to include but not limited to behind the wheel documents, MVR’s, driver authorizations, fingerprint cards, final evaluation results, and third-party testing.
Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Possess, or have the ability to obtain, CDL operator’s license with endorsement and other state or local permits as required
Requirements & Expectations:
• Minimum of 2 years of transportation safety experience preferred · Good interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills. · Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues preferred.
