Join our small, high-performing team and take charge of your own portfolio of scholarships. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide high-level administrative support for scholarship processes and offer advice to students, staff, funders, and other external stakeholders. You’ll bring expertise in data and financial procedures, along with the ability to manage your workflow and deliver results.
We’re looking for someone with sharp attention to detail, a flair for financial processes, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in data manipulation will be a real asset in this role. You’ll work well independently and also thrive in a close-knit, collaborative team. This role also calls for empathy, sound judgement, cultural awareness, and the ability to meet deadlines. If you enjoy working with people, take pride in delivering excellent service, and have a knack for working with complex information and systems, we’d love to hear from you.
The salary for this full-time, fixed-term position (37.5 hours per week) is in the range of $71,275 to $84,695 per year, depending on skills, knowledge, and experience. Based at our Hillcrest Campus, this role is expected to commence in ideally September 2025 and will run through to December 2026, providing cover for a secondment.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- A University degree, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Excellent administration skills, planning and organisation, and computer literacy including data manipulation and financial know-how
- Strong communication skills and professional approach with an eye for detail
- Ability to interpret, and experience with, working within fixed policies and processes
- Demonstrated commitment to high quality customer service
- Experience working with, and sensitivity to, people from varying backgrounds and cultures

Te Mata Kairangi is responsible for the strategic leadership and provision of services and support for all scholarships and higher research degree qualifications at te Whare Wānanga o Waikato the University of Waikato. There are two teams; one providing high quality service and advice to students, staff and external stakeholders for scholarships, and the other providing support and advice on the University’s Masters of Philosophy and Doctoral qualifications.
