DRI is taking a leading role in the energy transition in Europe.
Our mission is to accelerate the reduction in Europe's reliance on fossil fuels, and we have already established a portfolio of onshore wind and solar projects. At the end of 2023 we finished construction of our first solar park and wind farm, and we now have several wind, solar and BESS projects in operation / under development.
To have the biggest impact, we target markets that are underserved by capital and renewable expertise, by a team with a long history in successful development and construction of major renewable projects.
As Legal Counsel, you will support our Romanian operations across a wide range of legal and regulatory matters. Your responsibilities will include project development (due diligence, land acquisition, grid connection, etc.), M&A and project finance support, as well as legal guidance on contracts and business operations.
This is a full-time role, based in our Bucharest office. You will report directly to the Head of Legal at DRI and collaborate closely with the Country Manager and business team in Romania.
What you will do
• Provide legal support for local project development activities: due diligence, land acquisition, grid connection, permits, and licensing
• Support M&A transactions and project financing of Romanian assets
• Draft and negotiate complex supply and installation contracts (including EPC), as well as service and maintenance agreements
• Manage contractual claims and correspondence with counterparties
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, finance professionals, and senior management to provide legal guidance
• Supervise external legal counsel and manage the legal services budget
• Handle other legal matters as required
What you bring
• Qualified lawyer with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Romanian law
• 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the industrial or energy sector, or at a law firm
• Demonstrated experience bringing at least 2 projects from development to operation, including involvement in M&A and financing
• Strong business acumen, proactive and hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills and entrepreneurial mindset
• Fluent in both Romanian and English (written and spoken)
