About the job:

Erie Home is looking for a Metal Roofing Trainer (MDM) to play a pivotal role in advancing the quality and efficiency of our stone-coated metal roofing operations. This position focuses on the hands-on development and training of Install Managers, Project Coordinators, and Installation Partners, ensuring the highest standards in material ordering, field execution, and inventory management are consistently met. The role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership, and a passion for education, involving frequent travel to conduct in-person training, assess field readiness, and provide direct support, with one week per month dedicated to remote, company-wide virtual sessions.

Responsibilities:

Training & Development: Deliver hands-on and virtual training for Install Managers (IMs), Project Coordinators (PCs), and Installation Partners (IPs) on metal material ordering (using Hover & MLG), installation quality, and system details. Lead virtual sessions for troubleshooting and developing training content.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to company safety standards and OSHA regulations, teaching safe material handling and jobsite practices, including fall protection.
Mentoring & Supervision: Provide ongoing mentorship to IMs, PCs, and Regional IMs to develop leadership skills and optimize material ordering and inventory use.
Technical Expertise: Master all company metal profiles and obtain necessary certifications. Interpret Hover drawings for material take-offs and stay current on new metal roofing trends.
Collaboration & Communication: Serve as a liaison between field teams and Inventory/Purchasing. Assist with metal roofing service case resolutions and communicate field observations to leadership.
Additional Duties: Promote warehouse efficiency through inventory training and audits. Maintain company vehicles professionally and assist in standardizing MDM vehicle build-outs. Become proficient in relevant company systems (Sales Force, Company Cam, Hover).

Requirements

5+ years in roofing, with 3+ years specifically in stone-coated metal roofing systems.
Proven ability to read and interpret Hover drawings and calculate material needs.
Strong understanding of metal roofing systems and installation practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel 75% of the time and comfortable leading virtual meetings.
Experience with or willingness to obtain certifications in all company-installed metal profiles.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn Sales Force, Company Cam, Hover, and proprietary ordering systems.

Work Environment & Travel

This role requires frequent travel (75%) to regional offices and job sites. One week per month will be dedicated to remote work-from-home, focused on virtual support and meetings, with one day spent in the closest office to develop training videos.

You must be able to work in outdoor environments and physically on roofs for 95% of hands-on field training. The remaining 5% will involve ground training with tools. 100% of on-site training requires your presence from start to completion, including signed documentation with the Installation Partner (IP) and customer.
