Job Summary
Provides academic advising to a caseload of 350-375 first year students. Aids in recruitment, transition to college, selection of courses within a 4-year plan, registration, academic progress, connecting to campus resources, and retention efforts. Works with student support initiatives and outreach.
Authority and Accountability
The Academic Advisor position reports to the Academic Advising Center, Director. This position has no direct reports or budgetary responsibility.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 experience in academic advising, student affairs, or related field.
Must be detail oriented and have excellent customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Development, Counseling or related field. Experience with PeopleSoft, EAB Student Success Collaborative, and College Scheduler.
