Could You Be the Certification & Authorisation Manager we’re Looking For?
We’re seeking an experienced Certification & Authorisation (C&A) Manager to join our team, based in Wellington, New Zealand. In this key C&A role, you’ll drive regulatory certifications and authorisations for cutting-edge rail projects, ensuring compliance and excellence. This role is perfect for a dynamic expert who thrives under pressure, delivering strategic outcomes in a global railway context.
We’ll Look to You For:
- Define and execute the Certification & Authorisation plan to secure and maintain regulatory approvals for products, enhancing project team awareness.
- Develop the Certification & Authorisation strategy, including quality, budget, and timelines, from tender through warranty phases.
- Lead the end-to-end process to obtain vehicle type certification, authorisation, and market placement, reporting KPIs per project cycle.
- Manage regulatory baselines, support engineering teams, and secure approvals for open track tests.
- Oversee Certification engineers and subcontractors, select independent assessors with procurement, and consolidate evidence for submissions.
- Challenge project teams to ensure compliance evidence is robust, aligning with assessors and authorities through regular meetings.
- Monitor regulation and standard updates, manage product modifications with assessors until warranty end, and provide C&A expertise across Alstom.
- Elevate Alstom’s leadership in C&A via the Core Competence Network, shaping methods and tools for future success.
All About You:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related field (railway, systems, or industrial engineering preferred).
- Extensive engineering projects experience, with strong accuracy, communication, reporting skills, and Safety and Systems Assurance experience.
- Background in certification processes (Rolling stock) and project/quality management.
- Knowledge of rail vehicles, functional safety and validation.
- Skills in stakeholder communication, technical problem-solving, decision-making, and planning, with a curious, team-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to travel, and adaptability in a rigorous, autonomous role.
