Markato is a wholesale B2B marketplace connecting retailers in APAC with emerging brands from around the world. We provide retailers and brands access to new retail opportunities in Asia as well as seamless online and offline infrastructure to thrive in the modern world.
In April 2023, Markato closed a seed round led by Lightspeed. Since then, the company has assembled a founding team comprised of early employees at Deliveroo, Uber and Grab who led the launch and expansion of those marketplace startups across Asia over the past decade. We went live in July and are gearing up for our launch across several markets in the next few months.
We are looking for talented and motivated designers to join our early team!
This role requires bilingual proficiency in English and Cantonese

This role requires bilingual proficiency in English and Cantonese
What you will be doing
- You will either own sales in a particular customer segment (SMB retailers, key account retailers, hotels, gyms, clubhouses etc.), or support BD activity in that customer segment
- Develop, refine, and execute on go-to-market business development playbook across different categories and geographies
- Work in collaboration with Product/Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Ops, and Finance teams
- Develop new sales relationships in an effort to grow business and help company continuously expand
What we are looking for
- Fluency (ability to engage clients) in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin is strongly preferred
- At least 3 years of work experience experience, preferably in sales / business development at a high growth startup or marketplace business
- You are sociable and love to engage with new customers
- You are hungry to win and like to chase after deals
- You have the ability to both lead through influence and execute extremely well
- You have strong communication skills and the ability to synthesize at the right altitude
- You want to work in a fast-paced environment with constant change and learn how a business gets built 0 to 1
- Good business acumen and interest in exploring the B2B ecommerce space
- You have a bias to action!
