What You Can Expect as a Lead, Interior Support Technician at West Star:

This position requires experience in interior repairs, including varying degrees of interior removal and installation, understanding repair drawings, inspecting aircraft and systems, and processing work orders. Supervising the team and directing project flow will be a primary function. Duties vary daily and encompass projects as designated by the Interior Team Lead and Operations Manager. You’ll be expected to work independently and lead multiple projects, with limited direct customer interaction.

 

You Will Be Essential to Many Functions, Including:

  • Perform interior removals and installations.
  • Repair interior components using appropriate manuals and references.
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate aircraft systems assigned.
  • Inspect and assess aircraft and components as assigned.
  • Maintain and repair shop facilities, equipment, and tooling to support operations.
  • Work independently on projects and lead multiple assignments. Timeliness and quality are essential, as is demonstrating excellent drive and initiative.
  • Lead your team in accomplishing required tasks without other crews or managers onsite for most of your shift—using sound judgment for day-to-day decisions and knowing when to escalate matters to your manager.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce aircraft turn time within your area of responsibility.
  • Grow and develop your shift team for the future.
  • Train and mentor team members.
  • Complete daily turnover sheets.
  • Supervise team members on daily tasks and project completion.
  • Communicate effectively in English (spoken, written, and read).
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by your supervisor or management.
  • Research required parts for task completion, including checking effectivity using OEM and/or approved manuals.
  • Assist with quarterly reviews of all assigned team members.
Qualifications

What You’ll Need to Bring with You:


Your Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal but not required).

 

Your Experience:

  • 5–10 years of aircraft interior experience.
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA paperwork and work orders.

 

Your Initiative:

We’re seeking team players who are self-motivated and capable of performing in a fast-paced environment, where meeting deadlines and time constraints are a regular expectation.

 


Your Sense of Responsibility:

  • Attend work as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify your supervisor before the start of your shift if you are unable to work.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work daily.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Follow all company and safety procedures.
  • Maintain customer-focused work habits.
  • Oversee project workflow and supervise multiple tasks.
  • Complete work orders and FAA documentation accurately.
  • Assist with major modification work when needed.

 

Other Particulars:

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
  • Repetitive physical motion using arms and hands, including grasping and fine motor work.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders and stairs and work in confined spaces.

 

Mental Requirements:

  • Understand and implement regulations and procedures.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot systems.
  • Work professionally with others.
  • Coordinate multiple projects.
  • Exhibit strong team management capabilities.

 

Supervision:

  • Report to the assigned Team Leader and Operations Manager.
  • Cooperate with other Team Leaders across multiple projects.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working inside hangars or shop areas.
  • Occasionally work on the ramp outdoors.
  • Take on varied positions in and around aircraft.

 

Equipment Used:

  • Personal hand tools provided by the technician.
  • Electrical power tools (e.g., sanders, saws, drills).
  • Spray booth equipment and all associated machinery.
  • Computer, copier, work order documents, and standard office devices.
  • Additional equipment as required by your duties.
