The Contract Therapist role helps to move toward our vision of thriving survivors in safe communities.
The Center for Women and Families provides free services to anyone who has experienced intimate partner and sexual violence. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of their trauma by reducing their risk factors and building resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry, and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.
The Contract Therapist is responsible for facilitating individual, group, and family counseling with survivors of intimate partner and/or sexual violence, including children, adolescents, and adults, using solution-focused, brief, evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Gathers information for intake assessment. Conducts intake interviews and completes individual assessments of client's status and required comprehensive services.
- Conducts brief therapeutic interventions to facilitate individual and group sessions, crisis intervention, and therapy groups with survivors of intimate partner and/or sexual violence.
- Maintains knowledge of current methodology and treatment trends and demonstrates proficiency with clients.
- Maintain certification/licensure/supervision expectations.
- Participate in case conferences, Center meetings, and trainings as assigned/requested.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Licensure required: Independently licensed to practice in Kentucky (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, LPCC-S, etc.).
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in trauma-informed therapy, sexual assault, or victim advocacy services.
- 1-2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with children and families, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong clinical expertise in trauma therapy and crisis intervention.
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team-building abilities.
- Proficiency in case management systems and digital documentation tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within service areas.
- Background check required.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in trauma-informed and evidence-based practices.
- Fluency in languages other than English is a plus.
