Job Summary:
Has overall accountability for clinical and patient safety standards of practice, resolution of clinical issues that are of a interdisciplinary or house wide nature, clinical policies and procedures that interface with the medical staff or have house wide application, clinical practice councils, and implementation of evidence-based practices. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Seven years' technical experience: Preferred
- Five years' leadership experience: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates clinical rounds, clinical projects, clinical education, and/or relevant research to assess and evaluate practice standards, interventions, outcomes, and compliance. Has administrative and supervisory accountability for the Clinical Practice Department.
- Acts as a clinical resource to staff and administration for clinical practice issues, outcomes and improvement to include: NPSG-Rapid Response Team, IC JC standards, house wide hand hygiene and Flu Vac Programs, CDC performance and compliance as well as Quarterly & annual RRT and IC PI reporting.
- Responsible for Clinical Practice which includes the review, analyze and problem-solving of clinical practice & pt. safety issues, case reviews as well as sentinel event. Has oversight for the Medical Center's Patient Safety Program, team, and initiatives.
- Collaborates with medical/hospital staff and leadership in identifying key opportunities and strategies for clinical practice improvement. Coach and mentors Clinical Educators, ICP, ICC through Core Competency Workshops.
- Works closely with other depts. and service lines to attain desired clinical process and outcome data for the IC, TJC and other key external report cards. Works with Organizational Performance Director and Performance Improvement Teams in the development and implementation of evidence based practice, standardized order sets and variance monitoring as needed to achieve desired clinical performance.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
