Under the supervision of the Stroke Coordinator, and with the ability to work independently and proficiently, provides direct clinical support, education and development for the Stroke Program in the Inpatient hospital and Facility setting.  The Stroke Nurse navigator assists the Stroke team in responding to stroke activations, educating/mentoring nurses and other clinicians and non-clinicians in evidence-based stroke care. The Stroke Nurse Navigator may be required to provide care and program development. The Stroke Nurse Navigator will act as a clinician to assess, coordinate and provide patient care related to stroke; as an educator to conduct opportunities for staff development and patient education, as a consultant to serve as a resource to staff, patients and other health care providers and as a researcher to participate in studies, review literature and disseminate information to others.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Upon hire: Texas Registered Nurse License.
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association.
  • Upon hire: Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS). 
  • 3 years Nursing experience in a hospital acute care setting.
  • 2 years Nursing experience in care of the stroke patient.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree Nursing. Or equivalent educ/experience.
  • Upon hire: Provider Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association.
