Job Summary
The Transportation Assistant is responsible for assisting with coordinating the transportation services provided by Innovative Integrated Health to our participants. This includes fleet management, accident reporting and documentation. Travel may be necessary to support all Innovative Integrated Health (IIH) sites.
Essential Job Functions
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Obtain and maintain proficiency on software utilized for the transportation department.
- Maintain and track vehicle inventory and ensure the driver list is kept updated.
- Act as liaison to the company’s insurance carrier as directed by the supervisor.
- Assist with title, registration, transfers, handicap placard acquisitions/renewals and other administrative tasks.
- Track expirable items, including safety equipment for the drivers and vehicles.
- Prepare purchase requests, for anticipated and requested items, and submit to the supervisor.
- Coordinate transportation for participant appointments.
- Prepare monthly transportation reports, as needed or requested by management.
- Ensure vehicle preventative maintenance is kept current and report necessary repairs needed to the Director of Transportation.
- Drives company vehicle to transport participants and items (Durable Medical Equipment, medication, etc.) as needed.
- Respond to and document transportation-related complaints and grievances for the Fresno Center; support the resolution of complaints and transportation issues across all IIH centers.
- Provide operational support for all transportation functions across all IIH centers as needed, including assisting with route coordination, vehicle scheduling, and compliance tracking.
- Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and in the initial, semi-annual, unscheduled, and annual assessments; attend morning updates and report changes in participants’ baseline status to appropriate staff, as needed.
- Support Transportation Coordinators in dispatching drivers and assigning routes as needed.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees assigned.
- Adhere to and support the center’s practices, procedures, and policies including assigned break times and attendance.
- Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner; and perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Be flexible in schedule of hours worked.
- May require use of personal vehicle.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of the area in which Innovative Integrated Health is located.
- Ability to think strategically to plan driver routes with minimal errors
- Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position.
- Function independently, have flexibility, and personal integrity.
- Must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and department heads.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills

- Ability to access all areas of the center throughout the workday is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and 15 pounds on a regular basis.
- Required to obtain assistance from another qualified employee when attempting to lift or transfer objects over 25 pounds.
- Requires constant hand grasp and finger dexterity; frequent sitting, standing, walking and repetitive leg and arm movements, occasional bending, reaching forward and overhead; squatting and kneeling.
- Transportation Assistant duties are generally performed in an indoor, well-lighted, well-ventilated, heated, and air-conditioned environment.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience in working with a frail or elderly population.
Education and Certification
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Valid CA Driver’s License.
- CPR Certification
- Is medically cleared for communicable diseases and has all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact.
