Pool Technician (Santa Fe)

Description

The Pool Technician works under general supervision to maintain and repair the resort’s pools, hot springs, and associated water systems. This role ensures proper chemical balance, cleanliness, and functionality of all aquatic facilities. The technician will also support other maintenance and project-related work when needed. A significant portion of time will be spent moving throughout the resort, which includes navigating uneven gravel and dirt roads.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Monitor and adjust pool and hot spring chemical levels (chlorine, pH, alkalinity, etc.) in accordance with state health standards.

2. Perform daily cleaning of pools, hot springs, and mechanical rooms, including skimming, vacuuming, brushing, and tile maintenance.

3. Inspect and troubleshoot pumps, filters, heaters, and other aquatic equipment for proper operation.

4. Maintain logs of water testing and system maintenance per regulatory guidelines.

5. Assist with repairs and maintenance of plumbing systems related to water features and pools.

6. Monitor inventory of pool supplies and report restocking needs to supervisor.

7. Support general resort projects when needed (e.g., basic construction, fence repair, landscaping tasks).

8. Report unusual conditions or potential hazards to the Project Supervisor or Project Manager.

9. Ensure a safe, clean, and guest-ready environment at all times.

10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. General knowledge of pool and spa operations, water chemistry, and mechanical systems.

2. Experience with pool or aquatic facility maintenance strongly preferred.

3. Resort, hotel, or property maintenance experience a plus.

4. Ability to safely use pool testing kits, hand tools, and maintenance equipment.

5. Strong troubleshooting skills in areas such as plumbing and water system operations.

6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and safety instructions.

7. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to pass a driver background check.

8. Ability to operate light to heavy machinery and vehicles, as needed.

9. High school diploma or equivalent experience required.

10. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

11. Must demonstrate strong reliability and punctuality.

12. Requires manual dexterity, visual acuity, and auditory ability.

13. Ability to work safely around water, chemicals, and mechanical equipment.

14. Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

15. Ability to walk or stand for 8+ hours per day, indoors and outdoors, including in varying weather conditions.

16. Ability to stand for extended periods, sit, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and push/pull/lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. 

17. This role requires the ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, auditory focus, and visual attention.
