Description
The Director of Marketing, Communications, and Events is primarily responsible for implementing development activities for the organization. Key responsibilities include leadership, marketing, communications, public relations (including press releases), event planning, maintaining strategic partnerships, Board communications, data and reporting, storytelling, donor relations, and ensuring administrative compliance. The Advancement Department supports the organization's mission through fundraising, marketing, donor relations, and communications.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing:
- Oversee marketing and communication activities
- Oversee PR and Media Activities
- Prepare the BGCGTC staff appointed as spokespersons with appropriate materials and information
- Oversee grant writing activities
- Utilize donor database management, including but not limited to data entry and report creation, analysis, and editing as needed to respond to departmental and organizational needs
- Support Board Communication
- Activation of Marketing Strategies
- Enhance branding Guidelines throughout the organization to align with a strong brand presence
Communications:
- Storytelling to increase our overall Brand awareness and Image
- Design event campaign materials
- Design flyers and communication materials (work with external contractor as needed)
- Support Social Media Presence
- Design and compile Quarterly Newsletters, Annual Report, and Annual Impact Report
- Work with the Annual Fund Director to design compelling messaging
- Ensure timely and relevant communication responses in the community
- Edit Grants
- Foundation Reports
Event Management:
- Work with the team to strategically design fundraising events from conception to execution with a focus on creating an engaging environment for staff, volunteers, and attendees that promotes BGCGTC in a way that achieves the highest level of stewardship, engagement, and, when relevant, revenue
- Prepare and manage the budget, work plan (including timeline and deliverables), and records to ensure the successful completion of fundraising events, programs, and activities. Post-event, host debrief meetings, recognize key individuals and constituents involved in the event, and reconcile all revenue and expenses
- Plan and execute ribbon cutting ceremonies, grand openings, and check presentation events with Corporate and Community Partners as needed throughout the year
Strategic Partnerships:
- Manage high-touch, key non-corporate advancement projects and partnerships from conception to execution
- Work with outside vendors and partners to engage in meaningful partnerships and projects that result in greater BGCGTC visibility within the community and/or direct support of programs and branches
- Support CDO as the liaison between the Ladies Auxiliary of Arlington and Cinderella Ball events, with communication and campaign materials
- Create and implement an annual engagement plan for key partners
- Respond to requests for data and information, including interim and final expense reports and narratives of funding projects
Data and Reporting:
- Use database reports to create resource development strategies and marketing plans
- Use data to inform key talking points for speakers, create headlines for Press releases, and build an Annual Report
- Maintain the Website with current information
- Oversee the photo and story repository
Administrative Compliance:
- Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time.
- Gather and manage the necessary data, as well as handle both internal and external reporting
- Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes, and controls
- Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
- Responsible for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively
Facility & Safety:
- Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work location(s)
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities. Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
- Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within the required timeline
- Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and/or others
Relationships:
- Be a positive role model
- Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure
- Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner
Attendance:
- Regular attendance is required; arrive on time, work required hours/shift, and leave at the scheduled time
Requirements
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience
- 4+ years of experience with marketing, event planning and/or communications
Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
- Ability to work regular business hours; including some evenings, nights, and weekends
- Ability to lead and motivate the work of a group of individuals including volunteers and professionals in fundraising activities that produce sustained and improved results over time
- Ability to prioritize effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and adhere to strict deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively in groups
- Organizational aptitude to tackle multiple, wide-ranging tasks at once, while utilizing skills of time and task management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Drive
- Ability to set and meet goals in a timely fashion through self-sufficiency
- Experience performing data entry and working knowledge of databases
- Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screens at any time
- Must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, satisfactory driving record, and a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties
Preferred Qualifications:
- Management or supervisory experience
- Experience with fundraising programs
- Experience with volunteer programs
- Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage
- Experience in a non-profit environment
Salary and Benefits:
- Yearly Salary: $65,000 - $75,000
- Benefits: Eligible for health, vision, and dental coverage; 401(K) plan and flexible spending accounts; life insurance; and short and long-term disability. Paid Time off (PTO) and company-paid holidays.
