Our Greendale Family Branch YMCA is looking for a Facilities Director to help us provide a beautiful and safe environment to our members, staff, and community.


This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. 


The Facilities Director position directs the maintenance and custodial operations of the assigned Branch(es) and Camp - including preventative maintenance and vehicles. Under their responsibilities, the Facilities Director is an on call twenty-four hours, seven days a week position. The Director must be available for all contingencies or ensure appropriate emergency coverage of the facility at all times.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides overall coordination of facility and property maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance schedules and the coordination of contracted custodial services. 
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  3. Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. May request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors. 
  4. Assume primary responsibility for the efficient operation of the pools. Ensure pools meet compliance in accordance with Code of Massachusetts Regulations through precise administration and control of pool chemicals and filter operations. Maintain a current Certified Pool Operator certification.
  5. Maintains active working relationships with fire, health, and building officials to uphold standards and ensure the branch remains in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including all operational areas governed by the Code of Massachusetts Regulations. 
  6. Ensures the highest standard of safety for themselves and their staff at all times. Follow all safety regulations in accordance with OSHA and all other industrial safety guidelines and procedures.
  7. Manages department budgets and forecasts to support the preventative and annual maintenance plans and monitor expenditures. 
  8. Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with YMCA, local and state policies and regulations.
  9. Ensure the proper upkeep and cleanliness of facility grounds, including but not limited to lawn care, snow removal and ice control.
  10. Maintains adequate inventory of housekeeping cleaning supplies and replacement parts for equipment that may be required by the Branch 
  11. Updates facility plans periodically. May develop annual plan of capital projects, consistent with the YMCA’s strategic plan and community needs.
  12. Promptly responds to members, visitors and staff requests, concerns and complaints with intention of maintaining relationships and reinforcing our culture.
  13. Provides round-the-clock availability to respond to facility emergencies, unless alternate coverage is pre-approved in collaboration with the Senior Director of Member Experience or assigned by the Branch Executive Director.
  14. Provides direct maintenance, repair, janitorial support to facilities and grounds as necessary. 
  15. Perform night and weekend hours as needed in collaboration with Senior Director of Member Experience or as assigned by the Branch Executive Director.
  16. Works collaboratively on maintenance projects with other branches in the Association as needed.
  17. Provide support of the Association’s charitable giving, including the Annual Campaign and special events resulting in achievement of the Association and Branch philanthropic goals. 
  18. Provide support to the Diversity and Inclusion Global Network in order to achieve Association goals, mission, and vision. 
  19. Participates in Branch staff meetings and other Branch and Association meetings are required.
  20. Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in facility management or a related field or equivalent.
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in facility management or closely related field.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.
  • Skills in supervision, budget management and project management.
  • “POOL” certifications required within 120 days of employment.
  • Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, and computer navigation.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations with composure and professionalism.


SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm Schedule can vary depending upon needs of facilities and grounds; 24/7 availability for emergencies


PAY: $53,000/year ($54,000 upon obtaining a CPO certification within the first year of employment). Salary Exempt with full benefit package to include, generous PTO, access to facilities for immediate family members, Medical, Dental, Disability, Life, Vision, EAP, & Pet Insurance, and ability to participate 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Also, once fully vested, the YMCA will pay into a retirement account for you!
