Feeding Northeast Florida is the regional food bank serving 12 counties across Northeast Florida. We use food as our catalyst to strengthen lives and communities. We use the pillars of food access, education, and advocacy to create food security for all. Through our network of partner agencies, mobile pantries, and direct service programs, we work tirelessly to ensure that no one in our community faces hunger alone.
Position Summary
The Community Engagement Manager will play a vital role in building and maintaining strategic partnerships with diverse community groups to support Feeding Northeast Florida's mission. This position is responsible for recruiting, stewarding, engaging, and managing corporate partners and affinity groups including families, teens, and other community organizations while developing sustainable relationships that drive both volunteer engagement and fundraising opportunities. The Manager will work collaboratively with the Volunteer Manager and Philanthropy department to ensure seamless coordination of all community outreach activities.
Key Responsibilities
Community Partnership Management
- Recruit new community partners including corporate groups, families, youth organizations, and other affinity groups
- Develop and maintain comprehensive stewardship plans for all corporate and community partners
- Coordinate regular communication with partners including phone calls, newsletters, annual reports, and impact updates
- Create and implement recognition programs, awards, and appreciation events for community partners
Volunteer Program Coordination
- Work closely with the Volunteer Manager to coordinate volunteer opportunities for diverse community groups including:
- Corporate team-building activities and sorting shifts at the warehouse
- Family volunteer days and multigenerational service opportunities
- Youth engagement activities
- Mobile pantry distribution events
- Off-site volunteer activities (planned and executed in collaboration with community partners)
- Ensure seamless volunteer experience for all community groups from recruitment through follow-up
- Coordinate logistics for special events and volunteer activities
- Provide post-event follow-up including photos, impact reports, and thank you communications
Fundraising and Development Support
- Collaborate with the Philanthropy department to identify and pursue giving opportunities from community partners
- Develop pipeline for direct gifts and grant opportunities from corporate partners and other organizations
- Solicit and secure event sponsorships from corporate partners
- Plan and execute paid off-site volunteer activities for community groups
- Support community partners in organizing food drives and fundraising events
Relationship Building and Stewardship
- Conduct regular outreach to maintain and strengthen relationships with all community partners
- Arrange facility tours and speaking engagements for corporate leadership and community group leaders
- Create opportunities to feature community partners on social media and other public platforms
- Develop innovative ways to engage diverse community groups in Feeding Northeast Florida's mission
- Track and report on partnership activities and outcomes across all partner types
Communication and Coordination
- Ensure all community outreach activities are coordinated with the Philanthropy team to prevent conflicts
- Maintain accurate records of all community partner interactions and activities
- Prepare regular reports on community engagement metrics and outcomes
- Participate in cross-departmental meetings and planning sessions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field
- 1-2 years of experience in customer service, relationship management, or nonprofit work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems
- Experience with volunteer management software (Galaxy Digital preferred)
- Professional demeanor and ability to represent the organization in the community
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in community engagement, partnership development, fundraising, or business development
- Knowledge of the nonprofit sector and food insecurity issues
- Experience with social media management and marketing
- Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish)
- Previous volunteer management experience
Work Environment
- The Community Engagement Manager will be required to work some evenings and weekend shifts
- Must be able to walk, stand, twist, bend, and lift to 30 pounds for long periods
- Willingness/ability to use warehouse equipment such as a manual pallet jack, electric pallet jack, electric forklift, and floor scale (detailed training provided on all equipment).
